For charities, foundations and their gift planners

A planned gift is decided once, and then it has to survive everything that comes after it: a move, an illness, a new adviser, an executor who never met the donor. What usually fails is not the intention. It is the record of where the intention was written down.

Meravor is where a Canadian family keeps that record - what exists, where it is kept, and who to call - so that the people who have to act can find it.

Your organization is the customer, not a channel

You buy Meravor and give it to the families you serve. That is the entire commercial relationship, and it runs in one direction only.

• No commission. Meravor is never paid a percentage of a gift, of an estate, or of anything else.
• No revenue share. Nothing flows back to Meravor out of what your donors give you.
• Nothing contingent. What you pay does not move because a gift was received, promised, revoked, or turned out to be larger than anyone expected.

This is on the public page, rather than buried in a schedule, for two separate reasons.

The first is yours. A registered charity taking a cut on software sold to its own donors is a conflict of interest, and it is a problem with the CRA. Structuring the arrangement so that no cut exists is simpler than explaining one that does.

The second belongs to your gift planners. The CAGP Code of Ethics, at clause 7, bars members from accepting commission-based remuneration or finder's fees from transactions or from relationships established with donor clients in the course of their duties. Meravor engages none of it. That sentence is worth putting to every other tool offered to you in this category, because most of them cannot say it.

Your organization never learns who has named it

A family's record belongs to the family. Your organization cannot see inside it, cannot search it, and cannot be told which households have named you as a beneficiary.

There is no report that produces that list. There is no dashboard, no export, no administrator view and no support request that will produce it either.

This is not configurable. It is not a privacy setting, not a permission, not a plan feature, and not something a larger programme unlocks. It cannot be switched off by you, by Meravor, or by agreement between us. Asking will not change it.

What Meravor can tell you is whether your programme is being taken up: households invited, households that started. Never an identity, never a designation, never a dollar figure.

How a programme actually works

The mechanism is deliberately dull, because the alternative is a mechanism you would have to take on trust.

1. You fund a number of households for a term. How many, and for how long, is what the conversation settles.
2. Meravor issues single-use codes. You hand them out however suits you - a letter, an event, a gift planner following up after a conversation. Meravor does not need your donor list, and does not want it.
3. A household redeems a code. Their record is covered for the term. No card is collected, then or later.
4. Nothing reports back. A redeemed code tells Meravor that a seat is used. It does not tell you who used it.

A code that is never redeemed is simply an unredeemed code. It expires with the programme, nobody is charged for it, and it cost the household nothing to have ignored it.

What the family pays

Nothing.

• No card is collected at signup, at any point during the programme, or in order to export.
• There is no trial that quietly becomes a charge, because there is nothing to charge.
• When the programme ends, the record goes read-only. Nothing is deleted.
• Export still works in read-only. A family can take the whole record with them, whatever they decide next.
• If they want to keep editing, they may pay for themselves at the ordinary family price. That is their decision, made with Meravor, and you are not told about it.

Where the data lives

Application processing and storage are pinned to Google Cloud's Montreal region. Sensitive free text is encrypted at rest. Meravor is built for PIPEDA, and for Quebec's Law 25 where it applies.

The caveat, written down rather than glossed over: the edge is a global external load balancer. A visitor's TLS connection terminates at the Google front end nearest to them, and then travels Google's private network to Montreal. Storage and processing are in Canada. The first hop of the connection is not necessarily in Canada, and a diligence questionnaire that asks the question precisely deserves that answer precisely.

What Meravor will not claim

This section has its own heading because it is the one most often left out.

• No SOC 2. Meravor does not hold one.
• No ISO 27001. Meravor does not hold one.
• A penetration test is in progress, and there is no result to quote. When there is one, this page will say what it found. Meravor will not write "aligned to" a standard it has not been audited against, and will not park a certification "on the roadmap" to make its absence sound temporary.
• No claim about giving. Nothing about gift size, gift frequency, donor retention, donor engagement or donor intent. Meravor has measured none of it, and will not imply otherwise.

If another vendor in this category quotes you a number about giving outcomes, it is worth asking what it was measured against, over what period, and by whom.

The programme, and what it costs

Sponsorship is scoped per organization. How many households, over what period, who does the inviting, and what the handover looks like all change the shape of it, so there is no page price and no standard package.

That is not a way of dodging the question. It is that publishing a number before the first programme exists would fix it for every organization that came afterwards.

Questions we are asked

Do you take a commission on gifts?

No. Meravor is never paid a percentage of a gift, an estate, or anything else, and what an organization pays does not change because a gift was received.

Will we find out who has named us?

No, and it is not configurable. There is no report, dashboard, export, administrator view or support request that produces that list.

What does a household pay?
